Johannesburg
Johannesburg
Area Overview
Johannesburg, affectionately referred to by locals as “Jozi” or “Joburg,” is the largest city in South Africa and one of the 50 largest urban areas in the world. Though not traditionally a tourist destination, Johannesburg is a transit point for connecting domestic and international flights and has become a cultural hub, with museums, theaters, art galleries, and libraries. There are opportunities for shopping at upmarket shopping centers like Sandton City, the Mall of Africa, and Nelson Mandela Square and, for souvenirs and African art, at flea markets like Oriental Plaza and the Rosebank Flea Market.
Okavango Delta
Okavango Delta
Area Overview
The Okavango Delta is the largest intact inland delta in the world, and is exceptionally rich in wildlife. Situated deep within the Kalahari Basin, the Delta is characterized by meandering deep water channels lined with papyrus reeds that open up into larger lagoons and islands; these in turn give way to seasonal floodplains and eventually large tracts of dry land where animals congregate. Fed by the Okavango River and rains from the highlands of Angola, the Delta can vary in size from 15,000 sq km (5,800 sq mi) during drier periods to a staggering 22,000 sq kms (8,500 sq mi) during wetter periods.

The game viewing depends on season, floodwaters and food availability but it is one of the most sought after wilderness destinations in the world. In addition to big game viewing, visitors come to experience the supreme tranquility and serenity of an untouched delta, and scenes of extraordinary natural beauty. It consistently produces very good predator action with considerable herds of ungulates and elephants.
Daunara Safari Camp
Daunara Safari Camp
Property Overview
Daunara Tented Camp is set on a pristine island in the world-famous Okavango Delta. The owner-run camp promises to deliver next-level, bespoke experiences for guests. The four suites overlook a permanent lagoon filled with hippos, and elephants are almost constant visitors to the surrounding floodplains.

Elephant Havens
The Elephant Havens orphanage is nestled along the banks of the Gomoti River, at the edge of the Okavango Delta. It is an ideal place for young elephants to live and receive daily care and companionship until they are ready to be reintroduced to the wild.
Using funds from generous donors, the Elephant Havens orphanage was built on the edge of the Okavango Delta. This sanctuary for abandoned and orphaned elephants is a safe place for them to be cared for until they can be reintroduced into the wild. The orphanage encourages both foreign visitors and local community members to visit and learn more about these remarkable animals. With access and education, they hope to bridge some of the gap between communities and wildlife.

Makgadikgadi Pans Sleepout
Embark on an unforgettable adventure with the Makgadikgadi Pans Sleepout experience. Begin your journey with a breathtaking helicopter flight that offers a bird’s-eye view of the stunning salt pans and the surrounding wilderness. As you descend, you’ll be greeted by your local guides who are eager to share their knowledge and passion for this unique environment.
Your adventure continues as you set out to discover a habituated meerkat colony. These charming creatures are a highlight of the region, and observing them in their natural habitat is a truly special experience. With your guides’ expertise, you’ll learn about their social structures and behaviors, making this an educational and entertaining part of your journey.
